Women And Men Were Created In His Image
Women in the Bible: Created in the Image of God and Called to Live with Wisdom

Key Scripture: Proverbs 31:10
“Who can find a virtuous woman? For her price is far above rubies.” — Proverbs 31:10 (KJV)
More Than a Proverbs 31 Woman
When many people hear the phrase “Proverbs 31 woman,” they immediately think of a woman who works tirelessly, manages a household perfectly, and never seems to grow weary. While Proverbs 31 certainly celebrates a woman of wisdom, strength, and godly character, the Bible’s message about women begins much earlier—in the very first chapter of Genesis.
Before discussing what a woman does, God tells us who she is.
A woman’s worth is not based on her accomplishments, appearance, marital status, income, or the approval of others. Her value comes from the Creator Himself.
Created in God’s Image
The Bible clearly teaches that both men and women reflect God’s image.
Genesis 1:26–27
“Then God said, ‘Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness…’
So God created mankind in His own image,
in the image of God He created them;
male and female He created them.“
This truth establishes the foundation of human dignity.
God did not create men in His image and women as an afterthought.
He created both male and female to bear His image, represent His character, and steward His creation.
Both have equal value before God while often serving different roles according to His design.
The Virtuous Woman
Proverbs 31 describes a woman whose life reflects godly wisdom.
She is:
- Trustworthy (Proverbs 31:11)
- Hardworking (Proverbs 31:13–19)
- Compassionate toward the poor (Proverbs 31:20)
- Wise in speech (Proverbs 31:26)
- Faithful in managing her responsibilities (Proverbs 31:27)
- Reverent toward God (Proverbs 31:30)
Notice that the chapter ends by pointing to the source of her beauty:
Proverbs 31:30
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
Her greatest quality is not her productivity.
It is her relationship with God.
Women Throughout Scripture
God consistently worked through women in powerful ways.

Jesus Honored Women
Jesus consistently showed dignity, compassion, and respect toward women in a culture where they were often overlooked.
He:
- Spoke with the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4:7–26)
- Defended the woman caught in adultery (John 8:1–11)
- Healed women publicly (Luke 8:43–48)
- Welcomed women among His followers (Luke 8:1–3)
- Appeared first to women after His resurrection (Matthew 28:1–10)
Jesus demonstrated that women are valued participants in God’s kingdom.
One in Christ
The New Testament reminds believers that salvation is offered equally to all who trust in Christ.
Galatians 3:28
“There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.”
This verse does not erase the distinctions between men and women but emphasizes their equal standing before God in Christ.

Closing Encouragement
Whether you are raising children, building a business, serving in ministry, caring for family, pursuing education, or simply seeking God day by day, remember this unchanging truth: your worth was established at creation, not earned through performance.
The Proverbs 31 woman is admired because she fears the Lord, and that same invitation is open to every woman today. God created you in His image, loves you deeply, and calls you to walk in wisdom, faith, and purpose. As you seek Him, your life can become a testimony of His grace, reflecting His character to the world.
“Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.” — Proverbs 31:30
