Jeremiah’s life reminds us that our contribution to the work of the Lord begins with answering the call God has placed upon our lives.
Before Jeremiah ever spoke to the people, God had already chosen and appointed him for a purpose:
Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee” (Jeremiah 1:5). Jeremiah was called to speak God’s truth to a people who often did not want to hear it.
His assignment was difficult, but his calling was greater than his circumstances. He faced rejection, opposition, loneliness, and suffering, yet he continued to stand in the place God had called him to occupy.
His life teaches us that we do not have to be famous, powerful, or accepted by everyone to make a meaningful contribution to God’s work. We simply have to be willing.
God can take our gifts, our experiences, our voice, and even our struggles and use them for His purpose.
Our contribution is our response to our calling. When God calls us, our responsibility is not to question whether we are enough, but to trust that the One who called us will equip us. What we place in God’s hands, He can use to impact lives, fulfill His purpose, and advance His kingdom.
